The City of West Haven has been lauded by "BusinessWeek" as one the "best places to raise your kids." Noting that West Haven is home to the University of New Haven and is about five miles from Yale University and offers easy access to Bradley Point Park beach and the Sandy Point bird sanctuary, the publication narrowed the list of towns using the following weighted criteria: affordability; school performance; number of schools; household expenditures; crime rates; air quality; job growth; family income; museums, parks, theaters, and other amenities; and diversity.

The Connecticut Central Coast is a region of 17 towns and cities strategically located between New York (57 miles) and Boston (130 miles,) along Connecticut’s I-95 corridor and adjacent to Long Island Sound. The United Illuminating Company is the electricity distributor for the region and supports economic development efforts throughout the 17 towns it serves. -
The Yale West Campus has 1.6 million square feet of space spread among 20 buildings. The campus, situated on 136+ acres, straddles the towns of West Haven and Orange.
The facility includes over 500,000 square feet of research/lab space and includes office and warehouse space, in addition to a full-service child care center and a central utilities plant.
The West Campus will provide opportunities to enhance the University's medical and scientific research and other academic programs.
